Senate approves Justice Alooma Mukhtar nomination, now first female CJN


The Senate confirmed the nomination of Justice Alooma Mukhtar as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria on Wednesday after a screening by the Committee of the Whole Senate. 

She is now the first female Chief Justice of Nigeria and will replace Justice Dahiru Musdapher, who will retire on Friday, July 13, 2012.
