Enugu Rangers captain James Okwuosa Suspended for travelling to South Africa on trials

Nigeria Premier League side Rangers have suspended their captain James Okwuosa after he failed to heed the advice of the management not to travel on trials to South Africa.

“Okwuosa said I asked for permission and told the management that I will come back by Sunday. I don’t think I have done anything wrong and surely I will be back by Sunday to rejoin the team for the remaining matches in the Nigeria Premier League.
It was learnt that Okwuosa left camp in Ibadan hours to their game against Sharks in the Federation Cup group matches and moved to Lagos where he was bound to travel to South Africa to train with Ajax Cape Town.
“He told us he wanted to travel for trials and we said he should wait till after the Federation Cup and the Premier League. It is not our fault that the two competitions are still running at this time of the year.
“He has a contract and he should respect the contract. I cannot understand why players would just leave camp in the middle of the season says Rangers’ media officer Foster Chime
“James Okwuosa is suspended and we now know that Rangers will finish the season with a player short. He is supposed to show good example.
“We have written to the Nigeria Football Federation and the Nigeria Premier League about the suspension because we must carry them along in everything we are doing on this matter,” Chime said.

Rangers are presently leading on top of the NPL table with 58 points from 34 matches.
