Jimoh Ibrahim presence in our office was not as a result of arrest – Police

The Nigerian Police have clarified issues surrounding the presence of Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, a business mogul,  at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Abuja.

A statement issued by CSP Frank Mba, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, in Abuja on Saturday said that Ibrahim was only invited to the CID office, following a petition against him.

The statement said that Ibrahim was not arrested and questioned by the police, as reported by the media.“Voluntarily and respectfully, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim honoured our invitation. This is the reason for his presence at the Force CID office at Area 10, Abuja, on Thursday, June 28.

“After a brief interaction with detectives, he was allowed to go unconditionally,’’ it said.

The statement said that in April, Babatunde Akeem, the Secretary/Legal Adviser to Air Nigeria forwarded a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, accusing John Nnorom, a former official of the airline, of defrauding the company of 100,000 dollars.It said that investigations by the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the police indicted Nnorom, while the money was recovered from him and deposited with the “Exhibit Keeper.’’It said that the suspect was arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, adding that hearing in the case had been adjourned to July 23.The statement said that Nnorom, nonetheless, petitioned the Inspector General of Police, alleging that Ibrahim had threatened his life.
