Politicians Created Boko Haram – Alhaji Alhaji

One-time minister of finance and Nigeria’s high commissioner to Britain under the military presidency of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida,  Alhaji Alhaji yesterday said that the Boko Haram crisis was created by political intrigues in the country and can only be solved by politicians.

Feeding interview question to Leadership newspaper, when asked why notable northern leaders like him have refused to condemn or applaud Boko Haram’s activities in the north, Alhaji’s answer was that Boko Haram was borne out of political inter-play in the country. He said that Boko Haram is a child of politics and can only be solved by the politicians.

He said that he is a technocrat and not a politician and, therefore, expected the political class to proffer solutions to the problem they have visited on the nation.
