Teenager charged to court for allegedly stealing a Blackberry!


An 18-year-old boy, Sunday Maduka, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly snatching a Blackberry valued N70,000.


Maduka of no fixed address is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Inedu, told the court that the accused on June 11, at about 6.15 pm at Mile 2 Bridge, Apapa, Lagos, snatched one Blackberry cell phone valued N70,000 belonging to Mr. Peter Bendedict.
Inedu said that following the alarm by the complainant, the accused was apprehended by the people around the area and the telephone was found in his possession.
He said the accused was immediately handed over to the police.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 285 Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Chief Magistrate Amos Adeyemi granted the accused N50,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
Adeyemi ordered that the surety must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned till July 4 for hearing.
